GQ: Wherein distinguishes QUAXTER from the „conventional“ way to get a design?

The search for good designers and the settlement of all formalities accompanying a commission are often complex, slow and expensive. QUAXTER offers a plattform that allows customers to quickly and easily get excellent designs. Since all the formalities around the development process are processed by QUAXTER, clients as well as QUAXTER designers can can focus on the essentials. The actual design process is in the foreground!

GQ: How does payment processing take place?

When setting the project, the total is transfered by the client by credit card, PAYPAL or Sofortüberweisung. We will retain the received payment until the client has received all required files of the chosen winning design at the end of the contest. After that, the prize money is paid to the PAYPAL account of the winner and second place (if applicable), minus the QUAXTER commision.

Experience shows that the prize money is significantly higher: logo: 250-400 EUR depending on the complexity, stationery: 150 - 300 EUR, Web design: 600 EUR - 1200 EUR depending on the complexity, Ads: 300 - 600 EUR, Flyer: 300 - 600 EUR. This is solely experience. It is best to gain an overview and then raise your prize money above the average. The transaction fees are not refundable, however. In the rare case, that you are not satisfied with any of the submitted designs, but more than the minimum number of design proposals are submitted, unfortunately we cannot refund the payment. We ask for your understanding here because otherwise the operation of this platform would be impossible. Furthermore, our designers need a minimum level of security in order to enter a contest. See for yourself the quality of past projects. Please consider the advices in the guidelines for clients in order to have a first-class contest with excellent designs.

CH: What file formats do I need for my design?

It depends on the type of your design (logo, website, t-shirt ...). For all sort of projects which are solely graphical (e.g. logos, business cards and stationary) and do not contain elements like photos, we recommend to choose vector based file formats (e.g. EPS). These file formats can be easily enlarged and are transformable to pixel based formats at any time. For other types of projects the above mentioned requirements are not always necessary or sometimes not realizable at all. In this case we recommend pixel based data formats like PSD or GIF/JPG. If you are not sure about the required formats, please contact the QUAXTER Team.

CH: I am looking for a new layout for my website, but what does "Web-Design (uncoded)" mean?

This means that on QUAXTER you only get the design for your new website - without any HTML / CSS coding. The implementation of your layouts in HTML / CSS has to be done by yourself. On request we can recommend services which can implement for you.

CH: How do I get my winning design?

When creating your contest, you choose the required data formats you need. These data formats also appear in your automatically generated contract between you as the contest holder and the winner of the contest. The latter commits to provide the data files requested by you, otherwise you will not release the prize money. As soon as you received all required data files, we ask you to release the payment of the prize money to the designer as soon as possible. This step is an automated process of QUAXTER platform. You will be asked to do so at the appropriate time.

CH: Can I use other design proposals in addition to the winning design?

Definitely, no! You only receive rights for the selected winning design. Any other designs may not be used. For further information also read copyright information, contract preview and the regulations of the rights of use in terms and conditions.

CH: If I distribute prize money to a number of runner-up designs, do I then I get their rights?

As far as the designer that achieved an appreciation award for the runner-up (max. rank 2-10) has given you presentation rights, these rights are limited to a temporary permission for publication, but not for the use and further processing

CH: How do I gain the rights of use for other designs in my project?

This procedure is called „Buy-out“. If you want a rights-buy-out for another design, just get in contact with us and we will send you the separate contract data. In buy-out it is common, that the designer receives the same prize money as the contest winner.

CH: How long should a project run?

It depends on the complexity. We recommend at least 4 days and a maximum of 7 days.

Designer: How and when do I, as contest winner, receive my prize money?

You receive your prize money directly after release You will receive your prize immediately upon release by the contest holder. We immediately forward the prize money - less the commission fee of 15% - to your PayPal account. Therefore, please check carefully whether your PayPal account is properly stored in your personal profile. The contest holder will not release the proze money until you have uploaded all requested file formats of the winning design (via data upload on the platform). In the event that the contest holder has not released the prize money within 5 days after the complete upload of all the files, please contact us. We then request him once again and, where appropriate, also release the prize money ourselves. So do not worry as long as you fulfill your obligations carefully, you will get your money in any case.

Designer: The obtained PayPal payment is lower than the advertised contest prize money, why?

Designer: Another designer copied my design, what should I do?

First you have you be aware that similarities in design (eg same font, or color) does not necessarily always mean that someone has copied here. Sometimes it is natural that the designs are similar because of the given demands in the QUAXTER briefing. Do you suspect, however, that you were obviously copied, then contact the involved designer in form of a „private message“. Please always keep a respectful manner. Check out the guidelines for designers, the Copyright information and the rights of use in terms and conditions. If the direct way of clarifying the issue has brought no results, get in touch with us.

Designer: Can I use Images/Icons/Cliparts from fotolia oder shutterstock in my designs?

In a logo contest, the answer is a definite no. Not even if you have properly acquired the rights of use for this file and this includes the right to commercial use. Background is the following: Logos that contain such elements cannot be registered as a trademark later by the contest holder. In contests of other categories you may use those elements , but you have to explicitely point it out in the description of the proposal!

Designer: What „Confidential projects“?

Confidentail porjects are only visible to registered designers. In order to maintain the confidentiality of projects, a contest holder may add additional entry criteria

Designer: Can I withdraw my submitted design proposals again?

Any time. However, we recommend not to withdraw to many design proposals, as they represent your personal style and help you to get the attention of website visitors as well as contest holders, which may invite you to participate in their contest.
